Graduation Year: 2018

Major: Double Major in Russian Language and Literature / Political Science

How did you decide on your major?

I chose to study Russian because it is a critical language to U.S. national security. Also, I read Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky in high school and it started my interest in Russian.

What is it about your chosen field (and the department) that appeals to you?

I love having the ability to communicate in a foreign language. Also, Russian literature is very rich and filled with many great authors. The novels, short stories, and poems we read in the Russian department are some of my favorite works I have ever read!

Do you have a favorite class/professor within your major?

I’ve been blessed with every class and professor I have taken in the Russian department. The faculty are all passionate about their work and this resonates with their students. They also have all shown a real interest in my education and well-being.

What are your favorite academic experiences outside of your major?

The best thing about Rutgers is the people. I have met the greatest people here at Rutgers. From fellow students to professors, what makes the Rutgers experience so great are the friendships.

What are your other Rutgers activities?

I am a cadet in the Air Force ROTC program at Rutgers.

What are your plans following graduation?

I hope to commission as a 2d Lieutenant in the United States Air Force!
